Vintage Stenciled Silk Kimono - Vintage Japanese Kimono Robe H1413
Hand stitched by kimono makers in Japan. This is a women's robe and it is fully lined. It's silk crepe, flowing, and in excellent condition.
The fabric is chirimen silk, which has a twist in the weave, but this one has just a slight twist so the fabric is fairly smooth and silky. The robe has a patchwork-like pattern in orange, navy and green with tons of flowers among garden gates.
The lining is part pale pink poly, with off-white silk with a shaded border of burnt orange. The lining is clean without tears or marks.
Measures 52" from sleeve tip to tip and 62" from back neck to the hem.
Chest is 47", hip is 47", sleeve length from shoulder seam to wrist is 12.75" and the drop from the shoulder to the bottom edge is 21".
Kimono are very long because in Japan they take a horizontal tuck at the waist and wrap the fabric with the obi to keep it in place. Here you may have to hem it to wear easily.
Properly wrapped this would fit about a size 14-16 but you could wear it overlapped more loosely or completely open over pants. It is difficult for me to tell the exact size because I am smaller.
You can also display this backwards on the wall with a rod and open the bottom in a fan shape to get a full view.
